Voices on the Left

Every night I see and here the "Voices on the Left". I see the violence in the streets, I see conservative speakers taunted and literally run from the podiums at some of our most prestigious universities. I see the marches in Oakland in support of a cop-killers. Most of these hateful demonstrators seem to be young. To me, its a sad commentary on the youth of this country. They claim to support change and openness, but simply cannot tolerate anyone with an opposing view. They condemn a capitalism system, that has provided them with one of the worlds highest standard of living. The United States economy is the envy of the world and people are literally tearing down fences in order to get here. Yet these misguided souls see only evil and corruption here. They listen to their I-pods and text on their blackberries about how bad things are. They look to socialism with the foolish belief that a system such as that will make their lives better, forgetting that it never has worked well in any country. Western Europe being the best example---higher unemployment, lower economic growth and millions trying to come to the U.S. for a better way of life. Youth is often a time spent in search of something new and different, a search for the exotic to show ones Independence, and a time to toss aside traditional values. Most will in time outgrow these adolescent tendencies, some however will be in that rut for their entire lives and that is sad. We can to some degree, excuse the ideologies embraced by some of the youth of this country, we cannot excuse or condone the rudeness and violence they display toward those who disagree. This cannot be allowed to continue---to do so,would in the end, mean the destruction of our democratic system. A free and open exchange of ideas is a necessary part of our system. As for those mature adults, that participate in these disruptions of our freedom of speech, I have little use for them. Theirs are the tactics of hate and a new form of fascism not seen since the days of Nazi Germany.

  2. Nicely done, Ron.

There's really not much use for a wet dishrag, except to wash it and hope the dirt doesn't come back.

  3. For me, this is yet another sign that the public schools are accomplishing their stated purpose. Too many Americans are sending their children to be indoctrinated. This quote sums it up best.

“This will be the best security for maintaining our liberties. A nation of well-informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the region of ignorance that tyranny begins.”

These young people are NOT being taught, and it's intentional.

  4. What I don't get is the Left's hatred of capitalism, when that's probably how they got all their money ( or was it from lobbyists, etc.??? )

  5. For a long time the left has hated capitalism---they have leaned strongly toward socialism since before FDR and the professors in many schools have passed this along to their captive audience.

  6. Yep Matt you are correct, they are not being taught traditional American values, but an alien idealogy that goes against the ideas of individualism and leans heavily toward a collective state Utopia.

  7. These young punks are nothing but spoiled little brats that have no clue of reality. It's a shame actually, not only has the school system let them down, but their own parents have let them down. I remember at the beginning of Gulf War 1, all those idiots that were saying, ‘I didn’t realize I might have to go and fight, I just joined for the free education.’ They just want everything given to them any more. I just had an 18 year old quit on me because he didn’t like to work weekends because he wanted to go out and do things with his friends. It’s as if they have no morals what so ever, and no clue. The really sad part is these are our future leaders of society.

  8. The young who are fascinated with socialism are largely products of the school system and Hollyweird. They spend most of their lives never hearing a different opinion than the one their socialists handlers provide.

  9. You hit the nail right on the head, Ron. There is no reason why two people who disagree politically shouldn't be able to carry on a discussion without using vile language or promoting such hate of the other side. It is really sad the way Liberals have infected our schools today. It is really sickening how our public schools are indebted to unions and Democratic Party.

  10. It is so frustrating when you hear a young person put down this country after what it has provided for them. They just do not understand what this country stands for and there is blame to be spread around. They only know what they are being taught. They are learning this at school and in some cases at home also.
While people in other countries would do anything to get hear for the chance to live a better life the kids in America just don't realize how good they have it.
Hopefully as they grow up they will change their tune.

  11. Usually radical ideas change with age, but some get stuck in the rut of life.
