One's first impression of the Obama administration's declaration of war on the FOX News network is that he is thin-skinned and cannot tolerate those who criticize his agenda. That could very well be true, but one must look to see if there is another reason for this full frontal assault on Fox. Glenn Beck referenced this yesterday on his show and his thinking was that this is simply a diversion, an attempt by Obama to have us look at the FOX vs Obama fight while Obamacare sneaks in the back door. I agree with Beck to some extent, but I personally think this is a effort to marginalize Fox News and the stories originating there. Recently we have seen the destruction(to a certain extent) of ACORN and several close Obama supporters by stories first put forth by FOX and originating on the Beck show. The Obamaites at 1600 PA ave are attempting to thwart any future attacks they fear are coming via Beck and Fox and this is what I see as their primary reason for the attack on FOX. I'm sure Glenn Beck knows this, but is far too modest to suggest such a thing on his show. Does Obama have an enemies list! You bet he does and Beck and others like him are at the top of what I suspect is a long and growing list. ReplyDeleteI heard a Boston talk show host basically say the same thing about the Fox News spat, he claims that Americans like this story and will follow it closely while the Democrats sneak in healthcare. I think that there is allot to this, Americans are "reality televisionized" they like to watch reality drama on television and this would sort of fit that mold.
I don't doubt that Obama probably holds a personal grudge against Fox New for exposing ACORN and he probably fears they will expose more of his friends.
Perhaps Obama is hoping to achieve more than one goal with his attacks on Fox News.
As you suggest, this is called "burning bridges" and, in politics, a bridge you burned will invariably be the one you'll want to take in order to sneak away at a later date.

ReplyDeleteFox News won't take the White House talking points the way the MSM does. The White House emails them while they are on air, correcting things they say and giving them talking points. Can you imagine if Fox had done this with Bush???

ReplyDeleteObama has proven that he can't handle any criticism. He is such a wuss. The way Obama is targeting his opposition is like a cuthroat gangsta' in Chicago. Sending his men out to do his dirty work. The MSM would have eviscerated Bush if he had pulled something like this. Bush understood about freedom of speech and liberty, but Obama wants to "remake America" and quelch those very things.
