And you are right, the cost of free stuff,which isn't free cause somebody has to pay for it is...slavery. You will loose your liberty, since the government tells you what kind of food to eat,where you will live, what you can drive, where your kids are educated(and what they learn).
It was either F A Hayek or Ludwig Von Mises who put it best: "Government is the negation of liberty"
