JUST A FEW DAYS BEFORE CHRISTMAS DAY 1944, THE 101st AIRBORNE DIVISION WAS SURROUNDED BY A VASTLY LARGER GERMAN FORCE IN THE TOWN OF BASTOGNE WHEN THE GERMAN COMMANDER SENT A SMALL GROUP UNDER A WHITE FLAG TO DEMAND A SURRENDER FROM THE AMERICAN COMMANDING GENERAL, ANTHONY McAULIFFE.  HIS REPLY ECHOS UNTIL THIS DAY SOME 67 YEARS LATER: 
NUTS!!!!
