THIS IS THE PRESIDENTIAL PALACE OF ROBERT MUGABE IN ZIMBABWE, FORMALLY KNOW AS SOUTHERN RHODESIA. MILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF AMERICAN FOREIGN AID HAVE BEEN GIVEN TO THIS NEW AFRICAN REPUBLIC AFTER THE FALL OF THE COLONIAL IAN SMITH GOVERNMENT. MUGABE IS A STANCH ADVOCATE OF WEALTH REDISTRIBUTION AND THE RESULTS OF THAT AGENDA CAN BE SEEN IN THE MODEST HOME HE SURROUNDS HIMSELF WITH. WERE THE PEOPLE OF ZIMBABWE BETTER OFF UNDER THE COLONIAL RULE OF IAN SMITH PERHAPS NOT, BUT THAT WAS A WHITE MAN AND UNDER MUGABE, A BLACK MAN THEY ARE STARVING AND IN THE MINDS OF MANY THAT IS BETTER. I SUPPOSE ONE COULD SAY THAT A BLACK RULER IN A BLACK COUNTRY IS BETTER THAN ANY WHITE RULER---AT ANY RATE THAT SEEMS TO BE THE CASE AS FAR AS THE MSM IN THIS COUNTRY CARES. ITS NOT THE CONDITION OF THE PEOPLE BUT THE COLOR OF THE MAN AT THE HELM. THIS BELIEF IS THE ULTIMATE FORM OF RACISM!

Yep, he's living modestly isn't he? They are all alike. Politicians that is. They are in it for themselves.
As for wanting their leader to be black instead of white. Well, if it puts food on the table then good. I'm thinking the only one that's doing very well is the thief in that big palace.

Africa has a bunch of this. In Djibouti the were a handful of mansions you would not believe, the rest of the people made the dirt look rich.
Under the illegal regime of Ian Smith (who declared independence from Britain in a way similar to the USA) Rhodesia was the bread basket of Africa; after 2 decades under Mugabe Zimbabwe has become the basket case of Africa. Skin color does not come into it, socialism and corruption is all.
