ACCORDING TO THE EPA THE NUMBER OF FERAL CATS IN THE COUNTRY IS EXPLODING LEADING THAT AGENCY TO RECLASSIFY CATS AS A RENEWABLE RESOURCE. OPENING THE DOOR FOR A VARIETY OF USES FOR THIS NEW FOUND RESOURCE BOTH INDUSTRIAL AND AGRICULTURAL. SOME HAVE SUGGESTED THAT CATS WOULD BE A GREAT NEW SOURCE OF FERTILIZER WHILE OTHERS ARE PROPOSING LIFTING THE BAN ON CAT GUTS IN THE MANUFACTURE OF TENNIS RACKETS. WHILE STILL MORE ARE CALLING FOR THE USE OF CAT SKINS IN THE PRODUCTION OF SHOES REPLACING COWHIDES IN MANY CASES. THE EPA WAS ALSO QUICK TO POINT OUT THE RUN-A-WAY CAT POPULATION REPRESENTS A SERIOUS THREAT TO THE TINY FIELD MOUSE WHICH HAS RECENTLY BEEN ADDED TO THE ENDANGERED SPECIES LIST. A MOUSE WHO'S EXTINCTION WOULD HAVE WORLD WIDE ENVIRONMENTAL CONSEQUENCES. SO FAR PETA HAS HAD NO RESPONSE
