Iraq Withdrawal, Victory or A Disaster Just Over the Horizon!

Cartoon by A.F. "Tony" Branco H/T to ARRA NEWS SERVICE
OBAMA DID FULFILL HIS CAMPAIGN PLEDGE AND ALL TROOPS WILL BE OUT OF IRAQ BY THE END OF THIS YEAR AND THOUSANDS OF FAMILIES WILL SEE THEIR LOVED ONES COMING HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS AND THAT IS GREAT.  THE QUESTION, HOWEVER IS AT WHAT PRICE?  WILL IRAN RUSH IN AND FILL THE VACUUM LEFT IN IRAQ BY OUT TOTAL WITHDRAWAL? THAT WOULD BE A DISASTER ON A GRAND SCALE.  IMAGINE THE OIL FIELDS OF IRAQ COMING UNDER CONTROL OF THE MAD MEN IN IRAN. IMAGINE THE SPREAD OF RADICAL IRANIAN ISLAMISM THROUGHOUT THAT REGION AND PERHAPS EVEN INTO SAUDI ARABIA AND THOSE GREAT OIL FIELDS COMING UNDER IRANIAN DOMINATION. WAR ON A MASSIVE SCALE WOULD ERUPT AND THE ENTIRE MIDDLE EAST WOULD GO UP IN FLAMES FANNED BY OUR WITHDRAWAL FROM IRAQ---WOULD THAT BE A VICTORY? SADLY WE MUST HAVE THE OIL FROM THAT PART OF THE WORLD ESPECIALLY BECAUSE VAST AREAS IN NORTH AMERICA HAVE BEEN PUT OFF-LIMITS FOR DRILLING.  WE CANNOT AFFORD $10 A GALLON GASOLINE---OUR ALREADY FRAGILE ECONOMY WOULD COLLAPSE UNDER THE WEIGHT OF SOARING ENERGY PRICES  AND A LARGER WAR WOULD BE FORCED ON US AGAIN LIKE IT OR NOT.
TODAY MANY MAY CHEER THE WITHDRAWAL FROM IRAQ, BUT I SUSPECT THOSE CHEERING CROWDS WILL BE SILENCED BY FUTURE EVENTS RESULTING FROM AN INAPT FOREIGN POLICY OF AN AMERICAN REGIME THAT IS INCAPABLE OF PLAYING ON THE WORLD STAGE.

US would not now be so failed in the mid east had you not screwed up your supposed allies in the 1950's. France, UK Israel winning back the Suez Canal for democracy just because you wanted all the Arab oil for yourselves and look where that got you.

I'm aware of the "Suez War" and have never understood the position of the U.S. in the brief conflict. The allies and Israel were on the right track when we butted in---what a mess that blunder created.

Barry may well rue the day of his "mission accomplished" moment in Iraq.

I think it is a big mistake for Barry not to leave in at least some troops. It is obvious he didn't have the will to reach a deal with the Iraqis. I fear that Iran is going to take advantage of this foreign policy blunder. Barry only cares about saving his political hide.

Those who think that Iraq will remain an ally once America pulls out are deluding themselves. muslims will side with their own when push comes to shove. And more often siding with their own means they'll be against us.

Note Afghanistan's Hamid Karzai said the other day that if America goes to war with Pakistan, he'll side with the pakis.

To be fair as well, you can't blame them, if you have to choose between a irrational weaponized nuclear iran next door and a far-away America who most likely won't use theirs and leave you to flutter in the wind, who would anyone choose. They'll side with the stronger horse.
