SANDS IN THE HOUR GLASS

The constitution is clear on gun ownership rights, but slowly over many years the state and federal governments have steadily and methodically chipped away at those rights as they have with other basic rights that we once had. Rights that the young don't even miss because they never experienced them. Sometime I see our rights, our freedoms, and our liberty's slipping away like sands in the hour glass. Once that freedom, that right is gone it does NOT return. It's gone forever and all the complaining and the moaning will never get it back. As the sands of the hour glass get lower and lower one can more easily see the change--the movement seems quicker although the rate remains the same. It's just that the remaining freedoms and rights are fewer and the loss of even one is sorely missed and more become aware of the approaching emptiness. If we are not careful this emptiness will be filled by something that is totally alien to our American way of life, something that will repress individuality, something that will stifle our remaining values, and something that will crush our children's future.

One of the saddest of statements about the state of our nation.

I can't see America "recovering" for a long time - if ever.

We've been going through the same Lefty bansturbating erosion of civil liberties for the last thirteen years, Ron, I still don't know how the bastards were re-elected in 2005! Don't let Obama get away with it, mate.... even if it means riots. Britain will never be the same again thanks to the Labour commies.

Some states are changing their laws, there are some good signs. But whether the law changes or not, I intend to continue carrying. I have a CC permit and I never leave home without a firearm. I go anywhere I want. No one will ever know I'm carrying, unless I have to use the gun. In that case I will pay a fine if I have to, but I will at least be alive to do it.

Incrementalism has been the strategy of the left for a long time now.

It's sad in a way. Lot's of folks are recognizing the threat now, and that's a good thing. However, everyone needed to be aware for the last 60-70 years. The government grew, and rights were eroded via the "death by a thousand cuts." We can NEVER slip back into any kind of complacency in the future.

Some of live under such restrictions and let me tell you, this is not as bad as it can get.

But, because of the time issue, and the Frog In The Boiling Pot Effect, there will be a generation of people who knew NOTHING of what we once enjoyed because they no longer have that experience AND because they are ignorant of history.

George Santayana was RIGHT.

Can you imagine what would happen if 50 million armed citizens decided to rebel? The government would be in a world of hurt. It may have to come to that if things do not start improving.

Matt is correct when he says the Left's strategy has been incrementalism for long time. We must now begin to revert the sands of the hour glass to favor our liberty, freedom and individuals' rights.
